Boix has two production facilities (Balars and Saltet) and its Saltet plant makes it the only sawmill in Catalonia with the capacity to process wood of any size. The plant has been extended and modernised since it opened in 1998 and in the past two years has welcomed further technology for improving timber optimisation and stem wood utilisation.

The sawmill’s automation has improved the process for selecting and distributing pieces of wood, while also enabling the company to handle between 600 and 800 tonnes of wood a day, which are processed into different sized pieces of timber, chips, bark and sawdust.
